About Axarquia Malaga
Do you want to have a calm life in Nature?
Are you looking for peace and quietness in the country?
We have placed a great deal of interest on introducing you to a beautiful part in Spain called the Axarquía.
We hope that you will visit us and discover the delights of living in that wonderful area.
In the Axarqía you can enjoy its huge mountains, its famous clusters of white villages, the Mediterranean atmosphere, and above all the fantastic floral display. The Axarquía is full of natural beauty and is one of the best habitats for flora and fauna.
Due to the sub-tropical climate of the area, much fruit is grown and throughout the Axarquía, olive and almond trees cover vast areas of land; the gnarled trunks of the former and pretty spring blossoms of the latter decorate the rolling hills beautifully.
Thousands of animals and birds make the Axarquía their home and if you look up you are sure to see sparrow hawks, harriers and acrobatic red and black kites.
It is a good idea when visiting and walking throughout the Axarquía to buy traditional food. One can enjoy local festivals like "Día de las Migas" in Torrox, where the famous "Gazpacho" is served and to wich tribute is paid in Alfanatejo. The olive oil which is the mainstay of local diets and has its festival in Periana or the little orange fruit "nispero" which gets its fair in Sayalonga. All these festivals and many more are celebrated alone the spring, summer and autumn.
Religious festivals are taken a little more seriously but are non less enjoyed by the local inhabitants. In the "Noche de San Juan" on 23 June, the "moragas" bonfire on the beach and the combination of fireworks and water is one of the most beautiful spectacle in this place, but also many others are so known such as "Las Candelarias" in September or the "Romerías" in May.
Flamenco is the most present musical form in the Axarquía. It is the living expression of races and emotions that form part of its heritage. Of course, the only way to become familiar with the idiosyncrasies of flamenco singing and sensibility is by going to see it yourself, either at a "tablao" (flamenco show) or at a "peña" (flamenco club). There are plenty of places to see live flamenco in the Axarquía.
This region that PARAISO DE LA AXARQUÍA is offering you has an average of 325 days a year of sunshine. This may seem an impossible dream but an increasing number of our clientes are realising a lifestyle in greater comfort and luxury than they have ever imagined.
